Our most popular wooden blinds' colours and features

The perfect wooden blind will complement your chosen decor, improve comfort and offer many years of light control for the entire household. With such a large choice of made-to-measure wooden blinds to choose from, identifying the right option for your home can be difficult. At Lifestyle Blinds, we aren’t just an online window blind store. We are a team of passionate and experienced blind experts offering great customer service and everything you need to identify the perfect blind. Our in-house Interior and Trends Director, Naomi Showman, is on hand to help identify the next big trend and help you style it in your home. Whether we’re still obsessed with light grey wooden blinds or now enjoy the stark appeal of black wooden blinds for windows, she’s the one to speak to.

25mm & 35mm Slat Wooden Blinds UK: Suitable for windows of all shapes and sizes, slimmer slats are often associated with narrow or shallow windows. This prevents the space from looking overcrowded while allowing for more heightened control over both light and privacy. Of course, this doesn’t have to be a hard and fast rule. If you’re drawn to a maximalist interior, thinner slats may be the ideal way to draw attention to your windows and add more detail to an otherwise subtle space.

50mm & 65mm Slat Wooden Blinds UK: In the same way that thinner slat blinds will always be on trend, so will thicker slats for their own merit. If you’re looking to truly make a statement, use them on larger windows to give that wooden shutter blinds look. The complimentary expanse of both features will bring an air of luxury into any room. It also pays to consider which direction your windows face when choosing slat size. If you’re working on a southerly-facing space, larger slats provide more window coverage and can improve useability during the brighter moments.

Wooden Blinds With Tapes: Personalisation seems to have been the buzzword for years now and it’s no different for window blinds. While wooden blinds have a traditional construction, there are always ways to add a unique twist. Tapes are an effective way to cover pull cords, create a minimalistic finish and add an extra dash of design to your space. Pair crisp white Venetian wooden blinds with dark brown tapes for a strong contrast. Partner black wooden blinds with complimentary black tapes for a bold injection of style.

White Wooden Blinds: Even as we begin to embrace bolder decor styles, there continues to be a place for minimalist and subtle interior design. White wooden slat blinds are the perfect addition to every window. They effectively manage light while complimenting all paint colours and furniture to perfection. No matter whether you choose to wallpaper the entire space in a floral design or want to fill your home with vintage accessories, wooden white Venetian blinds will always work. If you’re looking to mimic the look of shutters without the added expense then 65mm white wooden blinds are a good option.

Grey Wooden Blinds: In much the same way as white blinds, grey wooden Venetian blinds are some of the most popular window dressings on the market. The variation of tones ranging between light grey, mid grey and dark grey wooden blinds means that there’s an option for every room. Subtle enough to blend in with designs and bold enough to stand out with darker hues, grey blinds continue to be one of our favourite options on the market.

Black Wooden Blinds: You may be surprised at this one but black wooden blinds are no longer seen as the black sheep of the industry. When fitted on the right windows, these statement window dressings add strong contrast and create a focal point that draws the eye in. Pair them with coloured tapes for a unique twist or simply appreciate the made-to-measure design as they slip perfectly into bedrooms, living rooms and dining rooms alike.

Cheap Wooden Blinds: When it comes to enhancing your home on a budget, cheap wooden blinds come to mind and our range of cost-effective wooden blinds is the perfect solution. However, the cheapest wooden blinds don’t mean low quality. These blinds offer affordability without compromising on quality or style. Still manufactured to be both stylish and sturdy, ensuring they stand the test of time while adding a touch of sophistication to any room. Opt for our budget-friendly, measure wooden blinds and enjoy the economical options that can also deliver exceptional quality and style.

Soft Grain & Perfect Grain Finishes: Our ranges include soft grain finishes that create a feeling of balance. The soft grain collection has 4 elegant textured finish shades, showing the natural wood grain, and offers a rich colour palette. The Perfect Grain Collection showcases natural uniqueness. It blends city hues with a modern wood grain print, creating a personality for an attractive interior.

Inside and Outside Recess Windows

How to Measure For Wooden Blinds

Our comprehensive measuring instructions cater to a wide array of window types where wooden blinds can be installed, from bay windows and conservatories to standard windows. These carefully crafted guides aim to alleviate any apprehension you might have while wielding a tape measure.

There’s advice on measuring for inside recess mount (recess size) and outside recess mount (exact size)

Recess Size: The majority of blinds are fitted inside the window recess covering the space where the window sill sits. Our instructions help with allowing for handles on uPVC windows which need to be taken into account.

Exact Size: When hanging the blind on the outside recess of the window you need to ensure the fabric sits outside of the window space. Similarly when measuring for bay windows or conservatories exact size is the best option.

Help on measuring for every window type is available here.

How to Fit Wooden Blinds?

We’ve made it as simple as possible. In the box, you will receive the fully made-to-measure blind and fitting brackets.

Due to the different surfaces that the blind can be fitted into, we recommend you purchase the wall plugs and screws to suit. Usually, you will need a size 7mm drill bit but read through the fitting instructions to confirm. The only tools you'll need are:

  • Cross-head screwdriver
  • Drill with drill bits
  • A pencil

    How To Clean Wooden Blinds?

Keep it simple is our best advice when cleaning any blind. For wooden blinds, the opportunity for dust to build up on the slats is greater than any other blind as they sit horizontally a lot of the time.

To prevent dust accumulation, you can efficiently clean your wooden blinds using a vacuum cleaner equipped with a soft upholstery brush attachment. This tool features a small, flat head with a row of short, soft bristles. Before cleaning, adjust the vacuum's suction power to a low setting and conduct a quick test to ensure that the force isn’t too strong, which could potentially distort the slats. For blinds positioned higher up and out of easy reach, securely position a sturdy step stool to access the upper slats without the need to overreach or strain, which might pull the slats out of alignment.

Alternatively using a microfibre cloth also helps keep them mostly dust-free. Using other fabrics may create static causing additional dirt to sit on the slats. Simply wipe the slats downwards and brush down the slats. If the blind needs a more thorough clean then take each slat and wipe individually from the centre outwards starting at the top. After each slat rotate it fully and do the same on the reverse.

For tough and persistent stains on your blinds, gently rub the affected area with a slightly damp cloth or sponge, taking care not to saturate the wood. For those with Faux Wood blinds, a mild solution of detergent mixed with lukewarm water is effective. Exercise caution to avoid rubbing too vigorously, as this could damage the paint or varnish finish. Additionally, it's important to manage moisture carefully; after removing the stain, promptly dab away any residual dampness with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel to prevent water damage to the wood.
